I’m usually on the hunt for vintage jewelry I can restore, and I also have a fondness for quirky vintage jewelry. I found this cool piece a few days ago. Can anybody guess what it is?!? It’s not a typical jewelry pice but more of an adornment of sorts with a function. 😂 ... See MoreSee Less

This has been a great day! I recently joined a volunteer organization that helps transports rescue dogs from Kentucky to Minnesota. What a great way to spend Valentine’s Day. One of the skills I’m trying to hone is working in wax. It can be a long process, but I love working with it. For this ring, my client wanted to use her grandmother’s diamonds for her wedding band. The tricky part with this one was that the stones were different sizes and the older cuts weren’t perfectly round. Carving the ring in wax allowed me to work around each stones personality. 💕 ... This is a great trio set of rings. It’s set with a moissanite, new diamonds, and stones from my client’s grandmother’s ring. A few years ago, I made little earrings with facets on them, and just this past spring I expanded that idea into a men’s wedding band. It’s going to be a busy Saturday today! First order of business is coffee, @ecfitlab shake, and some CAD homework. I am determined to learn CAD this year, so even if it’s busy I need to take small chunks of time each week to practice. I am a huge fan of old cut diamonds, and this was a dream working with these stones. The center stone is an old European cut, and the channel set stones are old mine cut diamonds. I recently made the decision to buy my gold stock from a company that sells Harmony Artisanal Metals. HTM metals are traceable, conflict free, and all mining partners receive a fair price for their gold. It’s a big work day at the studio today, but first I wanted to share with you one of my jewelry mistakes. A few years ago I made, and sold, several teeny, textured stacker rings that had a diamond set in each of them. I thought they were cool looking, but one by one they kept coming back broken. My first reaction to making a mistake used to be that I’m a horrible person, that I should know better, or I would shift the blame. Learning to let go of perfectionism and moving towards curiosity in both my life and shop have been a two steps forward one step back dance. The ring on the right is the old ring, and the ring on the left is the new one with changes needed to make it stronger...fingers crossed, ha!🤞🏻Have a great Saturday everyone!!🙂 ... See MoreSee Less
We’re those teeny diamonds flush set? Wow at that in the first place! I’m sure a bit more girth will solve that problem.
Love this. Acknowledging mistakes and then correcting without beating yourself up over them is a finely tuned skill, especially for those who choose creativity as a lifestyle.

As a jeweler, I get asked the question “What type of stone is this?”. On occasion that can be an easy question to answer, but sometimes a stone’s outright visual appearance can be deceptive. This particular stone was stumping me, so I took it through a battery of gemologist tests. Each test helped me narrow the category down to a synthetic sapphire, and then the final test helped me to identify the type of synthetic process used called flame-fusion. We absolutely love this ring. It took a few months to get just right (even though we werent'quite sure we knew what that was), but Jackie made sure it was perfect for us. We couldn't be happier with the end result. This ring is a celebration of the 10-year Anniversary from the day we first met. The funny thing is, Jackie studied her craft under the same goldsmith who made my first ring back in the 90's. That's when I knew she was the perfect artist for us. I'm looking forward to our next collaboration with Jackie . . After my husband gets a boat of course!
Beautiful design and execution! ❤
